Prominent football prospect Nate Roberts recently made his long-anticipated college selection public, after hinting he would announce it as soon as he was certain of his choice. Roberts, a renowned 2025 tight end recruit, announced his Commits to Notre Dame this past weekend.
The Washington star has been in high school for only two years, yet he boasts an impressive record filled with state titles. Last football season, his 8-yard touchdown pass secured a narrow 17-14 triumph over Millwood in the Class 2A state championship, marking Washington’s second football title in its history.
This four-star recruit chose Notre Dame over a lineup of his top 12 programs, including Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, and Wisconsin.
“The recruitment journey has been a fun and unique opportunity, but now I’ve found my destination, and I’m eager to focus on it,” Roberts announced on the 247Sports YouTube channel.
In addition to football, Roberts also contributed significantly to Washington’s baseball program, aiding them in securing consecutive Class 3A state titles. Nate Roberts Commits to Notre Dame.
Roberts started as a quarterback, but his sophomore year marked his first as a tight end. The switch proved successful, thanks to his 6-foot-4, 230-pound frame and impressive athleticism. He currently partners with senior three-star recruit Cooper Alexander, forming one of the state’s leading tight end duos.
Roberts first drew collegiate attention after his freshman year when North Texas extended an offer to him in May 2022. Subsequent offers flowed in from other schools, catapulting him to the 55th-ranked prospect in his class and the third tight end, as per 247Sports.
Notre Dame appealed to Roberts swiftly after his interactions with the coaches and a visit to the campus.
“I had the faith that my path would be divinely guided, and as soon as Notre Dame emerged as my destination, I felt compelled to share it promptly,” Roberts expressed.
Roberts displayed an impressive performance as a tight end during his sophomore season, racking up 33 catches for 705 yards and 11 touchdowns. This year, his team, the Warriors, seems poised to add another title to their record. Nate Roberts Commits to Notre Dame.
Interestingly, Roberts isn’t the sole tight end talent in his family. His brother, Jake, a fellow tight end, plays for Baylor after transferring from North Texas.
The brothers share a similar build — Jake is 6-foot-4 and weighs 244 pounds, ideal for the tight end role.
In Roberts’ view, Notre Dame offers the perfect platform to flourish as a tight end.
“The utilization of tight ends is unparalleled at Notre Dame,” he commented. “It has an exceptional culture, rich traditions, and robust academics that promise a future beyond just football. I truly believe Notre Dame was my divinely guided destination.”
