Three-Star Athlete Taebron Bennie-Powell Commits to Notre Dame

Notre Dame Scores Commitment from High School Athlete Taebron Bennie-Powell

June 22, 2023 by Jeff Monroe Leave a Comment

Taebron Bennie-Powell commits to Notre Dame, was the exciting announcement made on Wednesday, as the high school football player declared his intention to join the renowned team. The 247Sports Composite lists Bennie-Powell, a 6-2, 180-pound defensive back, as the 50th top player in Ohio’s class of 2024. With a three-star “athlete” prospect ranking, he holds significant promise.

The commitment to the Fighting Irish comes six days after Notre Dame extended an offer to him, joining a list of interest from schools including Duke, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Last season, Bennie-Powell accomplished 36 tackles for the Firebirds, playing alongside future Ohio State player Malik Hartford and Northwestern-bound Joshua Fussell.

This makes Bennie-Powell the fifth local player from the class of ’24 to commit to a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) school. Others include Reggie Powers III from Centerville who committed to Michigan State, Tim Carpenter Jr. from Trotwood-Madison who chose Indiana, Jake Wheelock from Stebbins heading to Cincinnati, and Gabriel Funk from Xenia committing to Appalachian State. Other Firebirds teammates like Elijah Davis and Jacob Asbeck also have Division I offers.

Notre Dame, under the leadership of second-year head coach Marcus Freeman, a Wayne High School graduate, has been working hard to recruit from his home state, although with limited success so far. However, along with Bennie-Powell, Notre Dame has secured a commitment from three-star defensive back Karson Hobbs of Cincinnati Moeller for the class of ’24 and signed defensive lineman Brenan Vernon of Mentor last year.

With the declaration Taebron Bennie-Powell commits to Notre Dame, a new chapter commences for this promising athlete. His agility, strength, and reputation precede him, setting the stage for a riveting performance. As Notre Dame gains a promising star, we eagerly anticipate a thrilling era of football.
