Leon County Schools has announced that Chiles High School football coach Kevin Pettis is on administrative leave while an investigation into potential athletic violations takes place.
It has been reported that the inquiry is related to an accusation that Pettis asked a Chiles player to intentionally injure another player during a game last fall.
Furthermore, evidence has been provided suggesting that students who transferred to Chiles High School from other zones to join the football team used fraudulent documentation.
A previous investigation in May 2021 involving the Chiles football program, which examined allegations of bullying and the use of offensive language, found no confirmation of the claims.
The decision was based on surveys from nine randomly selected football players and interviews with program-affiliated adults.
However, some parents expressed concern that the four-day investigation was rushed and did not fairly consider the detailed complaints.
This is an ongoing story.
